How You Will Get Healthy Safely Before Summer

By Todd Spinelli

Bathing suit time of year is approaching quickly and this has folks taking on different eating habits (shunning those of the winter season) and promising themselves that they will get in shape before the weather prevents them from hiding their bodies under heavy layers of clothing. Lots of people make an effort to take on too much too soon with their exercise sessions because they are so eager to shed weight and get into amazing shape before anybody will be able to look at their bodies. Unfortunately, getting into shape too rapidly can really be damaging to your health. Doctors everywhere believe that it doesn't do you any good to simply jump into a regular exercise program. So what should you do to get healthy in advance of bathing suit season arrives?

It is important that you see your doctor before you do anything. Ask your physician for a total shape work up and check up. This will help you see what your kick off point is before you start working out and trying to get in shape. Your doctor can help you figure out a good goal weight and body mass index and tell you whether or not you have any health conditions that you need to keep in mind as you work to get in shape. Your doctor can help you set up a good diet plan so that you can get your diet regime under control as well.

Start out slow. Do not try and run too far too quickly too soon. A very good program for working your way directly into shape is Couch to 5K. This is a system that improves the distance and time spent running until you're ready to take on a 5K run. Obviously, however, you have to do more than just running to get in shape. Weight training along with cardiovascular training are essential too. If you don't have time for all of these, look for a swimming model of Couch to 5K-this way you'll work your whole body and build all of your systems safely and over time.

You should have a support team. If you can find men and women to do the work with you you will have a significantly greater chance of losing weight and getting in shape when you have a support group even if you find your weight gain embarrassing. You can work together to eat right and exercise-these are generally folks who can go to weight watchers meetings with you, take exercise classes with you, etc. If you don't want to do this with folks in "real" life, you'll find this kind of support on the net. You can join one of any number of web support groups made to help with weight loss.

The basic truth is that it is likely to take time to lose weight and get into shape. The sooner you start to change your diet plan and training habits the better off you will be. The sooner you place your adjustments in place the easier you will find getting in shape to be. Don't forget that this is a circumstance when you need to work slowly and steadily--your body will thank you for taking enough time to do things properly.
