Zara Phillips Clothing Offers Comfort And Style

By Marissa Velazquez

The Zara Phillips clothing range is a result of a collaboration between the daughter of Princess Ann and a brand that has existed since 1965. The Musto brand was developed by Keith Musto, an Olympic sailor and engineer. He was looking for a garment that offered protection against the elements for sailors. Princess Ann, a keen sailor, wore this brand and introduced her daughter to these garments.

The Musto brand has been around since 1965 and was developed by Olympic sailor, Keith Musto. He was also an engineer and his aim was to construct garments that could withstand the elements, keeping sailors warm and dry. The garments were well known to the daughter of Princess Ann. Her mother has always loved sailing and wore this brand of protective clothing.

As an ambassador for the Musto products, it was inevitable that Phillips would collaborate with the brand to produce an equestrian range. The logo of the range is ZP176. This was the team number she wore when representing Britain for the first time.

All the practical experience she acquired in her many years as a rider could now be utilized in making these products as comfortable as possible. Stylishness was also important to her and this shows in the cut of the garments, with articulation built in to the sleeves and other features allowing for free movement. The garments were also well tested, making sure of their quality and durability.

The range developed consists of items such as a training jacket, a soft shell jacket, a gilet, a hooded top and a fleece lined jacket. It was launched in 2010 and the photo shoot showed this lovely young equestrian wearing the garments and looking extremely stylish. The attractive designs and quality fabrics used for these garments have made them a favorite in equestrian circles.

The fabrics used for all of these items are technologically advanced, making them waterproof, breathable and windproof. The outer fabric has a water repellent finish, preventing rain from penetrating the garment. An inner lining forces moisture trapped inside through the garment and out, keeping the wearer warm and dry.

One can purchase this range from a number of suppliers. Going online enables one to compare garments by examining photographs and descriptions. Once a decision has been made, color and size must be selected.

In recent years, the features on these garments have increased their practicality without taking away from their style. For example, fleece lined pockets may be included, well positioned for keeping hands warm. A hood may be removed and adjusted. Cuffs have adjustable studs. Vents at the rear of the garment make it fit well over the saddle. Zippers with a pommel flap in front help with fit and comfort too.

The decision to combining the expertise of the Musto brand with the practical experience of a dedicated equestrian to produce the Zara Phillips clothing range was inspirational. These garments are extremely comfortable, keeping riders dry and warm in any conditions. However, at the same time the distinctive designs allow one to look stylish at the same time.
